1. Gao Xiaosong 高晓松
Anyone who was born in the late 70s to early 80s in China would know Gao Xiaosong and his sentimental ballads. With a sense of leisure and freshness like western country music, his music often expresses the inexperience of youth. Gao was enrolled at Tsinghua University with major of Radar.
2. Lu Gengxu & Miao Jie 卢庚戌,缪杰
Shui Mu Nian Hua is a famous band created by Lu Gengxu, Miao Jie, Li Jian and Yao Yong. All of them are former students of Tsinghua University. Later Li Jian, Yao Yong went solo, Lu Gengxu and Miao Jie continued to use the band name. Their famous songs include All Life With You 《一生有你》, Away From Home《在他乡》, Forever Young and other campus songs.
3. Fu Mingxia 伏明霞
Fu Mingxia was a former top-class female diver, multiple Olympic gold medalist and world champion. She studied at College of Economics and Management in Tsinghua University from 1997 to 2004. The diving queen married Antony Leung, former Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR government, in July 2002.
4. Deng Yaping 邓亚萍
Deng Yaping is the most famous Chinese table tennis player, who won six world championships and four Olympic championships between 1989 and 1997. She gained a bachelor’s degree from Tsinghua University and then a master’s degree from the University of Nottingham, and a PhD in Land Economy at the University of Cambridge.
5. Hu Kai 胡凯
Hu Kai is a Chinese sprinter who specializes in the 100 meters. His personal best time is 10.24 seconds. As a student at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, Hu Kai is the first Chinese runner and the only amateur to take first place in the World University Games Men’s 100 Meter event in 2005.
6. Zhu Chen 诸宸
Zhu Chen is a Qatari chess Grandmaster. In 2001, she became China’s second women’s world chess champion after Xie Jun, and China’s 13th Grandmaster. She studied for a master’s degree at Tsinghua University.
7. Yang Yang 杨扬
Yang Yang is a former Chinese short track speed skater. She is a two-time Olympic Champion from 2002 Winter Olympics and a five-time Overall World Champion for 1998-2002. She received her bachelor’s degree in economic management after five-year study in Tsinghua University.
8. Wang Yifu王义夫
Wang Yifu is a male Chinese pistol shooter; he is the only shooter with six individual Olympic medals. Wang majored in economic management of Tsinghua University.
