China’s average housing prices rose sharply in recent years. The high housing prices in big cities such as Beijing and Shanghai have rising far beyond people`s affordability. More and more people are fleeing from these cities. Here I sum up the 10 most expensive cities to buy a home in China.
1. Beijing
The average new home price in Beijing is about 34,000 Yuan a square meter. Though the Beijing government has rolled out toughest measures to curb home buying, new-home prices rise further after recent curbs.
2. Shanghai
A non-governmental index shows Shanghai’s new home prices shot up by 253 percent in seven years. The average real estate price in Shanghai is 26,000 Yuan per square meter.
3. Wenzhou
Wenzhou in southeastern Zhejiang province, one of China’s wealthiest cities, led China’s real estate boom in recent years. The average house prices in Wenzhou are around 21,000 Yuan per square.
